Read the February 15, 2021 Long Island Press article “Recalling the Often Forgotten History of Slavery on Long Island” by Annie Wilkonson that discusses the not so well known fact that Long Island New York had the most enslaved Africans that the other northern colonies combined. It is also points out that this history is fading and should not be forgotten.
