The Problem

Let’s GB2RG is concerned about:

1. Grassroots communities subject to high rates of poverty, poor nutrition, poor housing conditions, public health risks, infant mortality, reproductive health risks, high crime rates, fractured family dynamics, inequitable drug enforcement policies, and displacement due to neighborhood redevelopment/gentrification.

2. The discrimination against and inequitable treatment of individuals historically underserved and marginalized due to economic status, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation/physicality, physical and mental disabilities, and immigration status.

3. Grassroots communities underserved by governmental public policies and benefit programs, educational opportunities, economic opportunities, and social safety nets.

4. Grassroots Communities living with a disproportionate share of harmful environmental conditions concentrated in economically impoverished urban ghettos, suburban “problem neighborhoods,” rural “poverty pockets,” and Native America reservations.

5. The current effects of climate change, disproportionally and adversely affecting grassroots communities including but not limited to impaired and marginalized communities. 6. The continued inaction by our global leaders and national public policy makers to address climate change in a significant and urgent manner, threatening the survival of societies and particularly the survival of grassroots communities.
